Following the launch of the CX-60, the all-new Mazda CX-80 is the second of two new models for Europe from the company’s Large Product group. It is the most spacious car in Mazda’s European line-up and will become the new flagship for Mazda in the region.<br/>In this latest evolution of Mazda’s unique Kodo design approach, the designers have focused on the elegance and purity of a minimalist Japanese aesthetic, which removes all unnecessary elements, achieved through the unique ‘hands-on’ approach of Mazda’s designers and master craftsmen, whose goal is to produce cars that could only have been Crafted in Japan.<br/>At almost five metres long and with a wheelbase of over three metres, the all-new Mazda CX-80 is longer, higher, and has a significantly longer wheelbase than the popular CX-60. In conjunction with two-fold-flat third row seats, the CX-80 will be available with a choice of three second row configurations, including the choice of two separate captain seats combined with either a centre console or a walk through to the third row.<br/>The all-new Mazda CX-80 features technology appropriate for the flagship of Mazda’s European model range and includes three new features: a new Alexa in-car voice control, a new hybrid navigation system combining the advantages of both offline and online services, and a new Trailer Hitch View which uses the centre display and advanced graphics to help position the vehicle relative to a trailer.

_meet-the-makers-introducing-new-video-series-on-yorkshire-craftspeople.webp "Some of Yorkshire’s most inspiring craftspeople are being profiled in a special series of short films and magazine features thanks to a pioneering new collaboration.<br/><br/>The Yorkshire Post and Hull-based video production company Nova Studios have produced a new series called Meet The Makers, shining a light on some of the region’s most remarkable craftspeople.<br/><br/>Nova has created a series of high-quality short films and profile features, which will run on The Yorkshire Post website and in its award-winning Saturday Magazine from May 18. The work is accompanied in print by pictures taken by The Yorkshire Post’s skilled photographers.<br/><br/>Those featured in the series include a jeweller, a potter, a bicycle maker and a fashion designer.<br/><br/>The collaboration has been almost a year in the making after Nova pitched the idea to Yorkshire Post editor James Mitchinson.<br/><br/>Matt Stephenson, director of Nova, said: “With two newspaper-trained journalists on the team, we loved bringing together our journalistic and editorial skills with everything we know about digital film-making.<br/><br/><br/>“The makers in the films we’ve produced really care about craft and tradition - and we’re very proud to be associated with them - their values reflect our own. There’s so much disposable product and content out there, it’s great to make films that are anything but disposable - we wanted to emphasise enduring quality, and to do that for the Yorkshire Post, a publication that is so embedded in the cultural life of our region.”<br/><br/>Catherine Scott, Yorkshire Post Magazine editor, said: “This has been an inspiring project to work on and we have been blown away by the quality of Nova’s work. The films they have produced are essentially The Yorkshire Post Magazine in video form - profiling the human stories of inspiring people from our area.<br/><br/>“We can’t wait for people to see the finished films and features over the coming weeks.”")

It has all the usual elements—blood, gore, violence, an arid, nondescript village lost in time, local gangsters, svelte village belles, an ageing inspector, and a brooding, mysterious stranger. All of it wonderfully supported by stunning scenic visuals of remote Rajasthan.<br/>I am a Rajasthani. I have been raised in the desert state. I know the geography like a native should and yet, I watched Shreya Dev Dube’s skilled camerawork with open-mouthed wonder. Thar’s cinematography is its hero. The desiccated terrain, the barren hills, the omnipresent dust, and the aridity of it all is so palpable, that you can feel the acute lack. Of water, vegetation, humanity. Dubey’s prowess does not just provide the right setting for the drama to unfold, it gives the film its true protagonist and thence the title.<br/><br/>The other thing that stands out about Thar is its depiction of brutality. It’s as savage and unapologetic as the acts themselves. This Netflix film is disturbingly graphic. Even by the standards of Westerns and revenge dramas. Violence begets violence, but be warned, this one shows it all—the severing of body parts, the mutilation, the slow torture, the immolation—up close and in distressing detail.<br/><br/>At the heart of it all is Inspector Surekha Singh, a weather-beaten cop six months away from retirement, played with inimitable swag by Anil Kapoor. His official rank does not justify his acumen for his job and his spirit to do it well. Dissatisfied with his unremarkable, middling career, he wants to go out with a bang. And soon enough, an opportunity plays out. There’s a shootout involving cross-border drug smuggling and a local man is found hanging from a tree, inhumanly mutilated. Surekha spurs into action.")
